Hit the Trails

Walking
Innerleithen, Traquair and The Glen are very pleasant places to walk, and part of the pleasure is discovering unexpected pathways to beauty spots by yourself. As a general rule, waterways and hills are very accessible from town and village centres. And there are longer-distance sealed paths that connect Innerleithen and Traquair to Walkerburn and Peebles.
Innerleithen
For a range of easy walking routes around Innerleithen, download this guide (PDF) produced by Scottish Borders Council. It contains half-a-dozen options for a range of walking abilities.

Traquair and The Glen
You'll find similar quality routes on the grounds of Traquair House; these are illustrated on the map signage at the pedestrian entry point opposite the Traquair Road carpark. The Glen has its own map of walking routes on a notice board in the parking bay outside the Gate House.
Hillwalking
Pirn Hill
Forestry Scotland has produced a route guide for the trail to the top of Pirn Hill. This route connects to some of the paths on the SBC route guide above, as Pirn Hill is accessible from the paths that run alongside the Leithen Water and into Caberston Forest.
Caerlee Hill and Lee Pen
Mountain Biking
As many local MTB trails are on land managed by Forestry Scotland, official routes can be found on Forestry Scotland's Tweed Valley Trail Guide (PDF) and Innerleithen 7Stanes Trail Card (PDF).
By far the best guides to MTB routes in Caberston and Innerleithen are the ones available on Trailforks. You'll find both of those embedded below; just click to enlarge.
